If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, such as fear, worry, overthinking, rumination, restlessness, and physiological symptoms or discomfort, we can help. Dr. Allen provides evidence based treatments to address symptoms of anxiety, reduce distress, increase insight, and improve coping skills. Dr. Allen will implement a variety of theories and interventions specifically designed to address your experience of anxiety.

If you are struggling in your interpersonal relationships, with a romantic partner, friends, family members, coworkers, or roommates, we is are able to help. Dr. Allen uses a combination of relational, dynamic, attachment, and other evidence based approaches to address relationship concerns. Both individual and couples clients seek out Dr. Allen’s help to manage frequent conflicts, communication concerns, and disconnection.
Pervasive conditions that impact relational functioning, such as personality disorders, can be addressed depending upon severity.

If you have experienced trauma in your interpersonal relationships, whether as an adult or a child, we are able to help. Dr. Allen helps clients who have experienced trauma within the context of their relationships by increasing insight into these experiences, understanding how these experiences continue to impact our relational functioning, and changing the ways in which we move forward. A combination of neuroscientific, trauma-informed, dynamic, relational, and mindfulness based approaches are utilized when treating clients who have experienced trauma.

Dr. Allen specializes in providing evidence based treatment for high functioning, professional individuals who experience difficulties in managing stress associated with the demands of their occupations and personal lives. Dr. Allen helps clients who are high performing but struggling to maintain consistency or sustainability around their high performance as well as clients who are looking to improve their performance related skills. This type of therapy is for clients looking to improve performance in one or many domains of life, such as occupational, social, relational, academic, etc.

If you struggle with persistent or episodic depressive symptoms, such as feeling low, lack of energy or motivation, decreased feelings of happiness or pleasure, or feelings of hopelessness or emptiness, we can help. Dr. Allen provides therapeutic treatments aimed at reducing depressive symptoms, increasing contact with reinforcing experiences, and improving mood.

Many clients seek out Dr. Allen for a brief period of time as they navigate stressful life transitions. Dr. Allen provides bespoke psychological and emotional support through significant life events (i.e., break ups, moves, change of job, welcoming children, etc.).

Dr. Allen works with clients who may be experiencing an impaired sense of self esteem or self confidence. A combination of approaches, including CBT, ACT, EFT, Relational, and Humanistic approaches are utilized in this work. A particular emphasis is placed on the concept of self compassion and associated evidence based research.

Dr. Allen provides specialized psychological care to address conditions that specifically impact women. Women experiencing psychological distress associated with hormonal changes, PMDD, pregnancy, infertility, postpartum, and menopause may benefit from this work. Dr. Allen also works with environmental and relational stressors specific to women, including managing high mental load, inequitable division of labor, caregiving, discrimination, violence against women, and the expectation to “do it all.”
